Pick ups for Bong finaly done!

Yesterday was the last chapter in capturing the final pick ups for Bong Of The Dead! Why did I want to shoot more one year later? Well I always had some really cool shots in my head and of course because of the tight schedule I had put together for the actual shoot, I had to let go of some shots. Well, now that the film is technically finished and I’m tweaking it I thought heck its a perfect time to get those inserts I always wanted for some added gore! I called Mike Fields and his lovely assistant Mandi, Gabriel Medina, Andres Santana who are the usual suspects in making these things happen. Once the micro crew showed up it was time for some really disgusting movie magic. I have a couple pictures here but nothing that truly shows what we were up to. Im sorry but you will have to wait for the movie to see that.

The Final chapter in zombie gore!!

Well its been a few days since Ive blogged because I have been very busy working on Bong and building a fence at the same time. I know the fence has nothing to do with Bong but it gave me a nice break from it. Anyways now that I have the edit locked and I know exactly where everything should be I am going to finally bang out a few pick up shots that I always wanted to get but did not have the time for. Im talking about some extra special added gore such as heads being crushed, guts being torn out, eyes being gouged…you know the usual good stuff. I have a micro crew of loyal friends coming by today a year and a half later to pick up where we left off with some really cool gags. Mike Fields is bringing the magic once more to help wrap up the final shots. I will post the pictures after Im done editing them into the sequences I have waiting!

Editing is great but the weather is NOT!

I cant really complain about editing at this point because I have been pumping out shots and compositing like a mad man. Its nice to get a boost during post

Well I have been working crazy hours on the movie as promised and the results are showing. Im incredibly happy with the sequences which I have created so far and am now beginning to see the impact its starting to have for BOTD fans all over the world. It seems every day a few more web sites are catching wind of this film and are promoting it on their web sites. Its a good feeling when people like your stuff! I’m going to be releasing another short video movie which will show the process as its being made. I hope it will shed some light as to why post is taking over one year and how its being done by just me and my MAC and a lot of time! The first wave of Composites start today!

Now that Ive finally finished the 3rd and final edit of the film, the fun begins! I started the first series of complicated composites for the whole film. Its very tedious work and extremely time consuming but well worth the efforts. Im able to enhance certain shots and add elements to others seamlessly. As soon as I plow through the Vis FX shots I will then start on getting sequences ready for my Sound FX wiz Andres who will then do the magical post sound engineering. I will post some of the progress before and after shots as they are completed.

Bong is finaly done!

Its is almost 6 AM PST and I have just finished the official picture edit of BOTD! I actually finished it at 3AM on Jan 9th. This means that the hard part is now out of my way and its time to do the fun stuff like sound design, Vis FX as well as a few other touches and tweaks such as color correction and so on. Its been a long year of grinding and I must say it has finally paid off because now that I can watch the film from start to finish and its a great feeling. I will now spend the next couple of months filling in the blanks and polishing the movie for final delivery. I will keep everyone posted as always. Thanks!

One week report for Bong Of The Dead!

Well, I have been pounding away on the edits composites and scores for Bong of The Dead for this whole week solid! There were a few interruptions but all in all it was a very productive week. I am now getting closer to finishing the third and final edit ( For Now) and then I will concentrate on the composites one at a time and bag them as they get done. Thank you James Cameron for making Avatar!

I just took a break from my own movie to visit the IMAX and watch James Cameron’s Avatar for the second time. I am blown away even more this time then I was the first time. The film is an inspiration on a Moral level as well as technological. What I mean by that is that it not only is a great film with a powerful message but its a stepping stone in technology which only gets better. It reminds me of why I want to be a filmmaker till the day I die…then reanimate as a flesh eating zombie who will continue to make movies of course, Duh!

5 Days solid and counting!!

I have been busting my hump for the last year working on every part of BOTD imaginable. Its been an exhausting task to say the least but one well worth the efforts. Once the film is done I hope the world will see that it pays to stay to on track and stay focused even though there are days that quitting would be an easy out. Im happy with the changes and additions I have made in the past 5 days as part of my New years resolution. Im now going to dig in and work on some audio issues which need my attention. In the mean time here are 3 more pictures not on the official website.

Its ugly outside so Im glad to be inside editing:)

Well Ive been at it now for 4 days solid and am very happy to report that I have been able to get a nice chunk of final editing done on Bong. There is a lot more to do in a short amount of time but time is on my side so I am very confident that I can reach my deadline. Now if I could only deal with the distractions of being called every five minutes by my wonderful wife who desperately wants me to help her undecorate!
